The pixel advertising game has changed. What made the million dollar home page work was the great new twists on an old idea of selling space online and of course the fabulous publicity that that was generated. Does this mean that pixel advertising is dead?

No, it just means that pixel site owners must find a new way, our own twist to sell online space. Million Dollar Pixel Advertising - The Road Ahead

There is little doubt that the initial froth and excitement around pixel advertising has subdued.
